Lyell Canyon

Planning a longer trip in August, I went to Yosemite last weekend to acquaint myself with a portion of the upcoming hike.  Tuolumne Meadows and Lyell Canyon are 27.5 miles from Yosemite Valley which is the beginning of the northern portion of the 211 mile John Muir Trail. It had been so long since I was last there I wanted to see where the Tuolumne Meadows post office, backpackers campground and grill were, all places to stop as I pass through to rest, resupply food and take on calories to be later exchanged for trail miles and outrageous scenery. It was just a day trip this time but a wonderful taste of things to come.
